The Targeted Marketing team is responsible for delivering 1:1 targeted customer communications through various channels and tactics. As part of the broader Marketing function, this department works with internal teams, business stakeholders and external agencies to deliver best in class targeted marketing programs to our customers.

Job Description

Reporting to the Associate Vice President, the Senior Manager leads a team of reports and is responsible for the development and management of targeted customer communications through various channels and tactics (e.g. mail, email, online intercepts, list-based social targeting, etc). This is inclusive of developing targeting strategies, tactical plans, agency briefs, interpreting results, and presenting recommendations for various TD lines of business.

Working closely with key stakeholders, you will translate business objectives into Targeted Marketing strategies that drive results. You will leverage your expertise in direct marketing to develop engaging, measureable, targeted campaigns, always keeping the customer experience and TD’s Brand Strategy in mind.

As an expert marketer with targeted marketing experience, you thrive in a demanding environment. You possess a diverse marketing skill set, including direct & database marketing, product marketing, and/or marketing planning. You understand the production and deployment process for both traditional and digital tactics. You also have hands-on experience working with creative agencies, marketing technology, and at developing/influencing recommendations for annual plans, related to targeted marketing.

This role requires strong strategic thinking, influencing skills, and an ability to navigate process to ensure initiatives are delivered on strategy, and with excellence. You have demonstrated experience in applying a strategic approach and challenging the status quo to win on behalf of customers. You have experience with both traditional and emerging targeted channels, and have acted as the owner on large scale initiatives that have contributed to the development of Targeted Marketing capabilities or enhanced bottom line growth through Targeted Marketing.

This role, in particular, is also accountable for the continual evolution and elevation of Targeted Marketing capabilities (with emphasis on email), supporting our mission to be recognized as a centre of excellence. Working closely with the Associate Vice President, this role will develop and deliver on a capabilities roadmap, that will drive new processes, new technology, and – ultimately – new innovation in the email channel on behalf of TD.

Your excellent communication and influencing skills is paramount to your ability to both manage expectations, and ensure buy-in/approval from peer and senior levels of the organization. You have strong presentation skills and know when and how to manage change and address issues in projects. You can effortlessly tailor your communication style to your audience.

You are highly experienced in leading a team to bring out the performance they didn’t know they had. You have a passion for coaching and development, empowering team members to take ownership and continuously improve.

This position will be based in Toronto. The successful candidate will be a key member of the leadership team and be collaborative in sharing new ideas and better ways of doing things. You embrace new ideas, are a driver of positive change, and are current with marketing and business trends.

Requirements

10+ years in Consumer or Financial Services Marketing with specific experience in targeted marketing strategy, technology, and/or execution.

Experience managing, coaching, and leading teams to deliver on business objectives while driving a positive employee experience.

Superior leadership, influence, and relationship management skills – both with internal partners and external agencies.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the development and delivery of presentations to impact and influence others.

Ability to oversee complex cross-functional initiatives, as well as day to day tactical execution.

Robust organizational skills with the ability to work in a fast paced environment and manage multiple deadlines and priorities; comfortable with ambiguity and change with an ability to create focus and drive to results.

Additional Information

Undergraduate degree or relevant professional certifications, designations, or equivalent required.

MBA or postgraduate education an asset.
