Department Overview

CUSTOMER:
• Review system requirements and system design documents to create test cases with detailed steps and expected results with a high degree of accuracy
• May analyze, develop, debug, execute and maintain automated test cases within the testing environment
• Execute test cases and document actual results, with a high degree of accuracy for system test phase adhering to timelines
• Assist in defining test data and test environment requirements
• Log defects and assist in resolution process as required
• Provide support to business teams for business testing as required
• Build relationships and work collaboratively to identify solutions and resolve variance from product/application specifications
• Participate in or develop test strategies/plans, traceability matrices and test closure reports, for small to medium complexity projects
• May provide day-to-day support for test environments, trouble shooting, triaging issues and coordinating resolution with all technology partners.

SHAREHOLDER:

• Ensure timely notification of issues/problems and make recommendations for issue/problem resolution
• Ability to identify opportunities to improve the performance of Technology processes and delivery outcomes

• Adhere to existing processes/standards including testing and project management disciplines, well-defined enterprise technology delivery practices and standards, escalating escalate issues as required
• Continuously enhance knowledge/expertise in own area and keep current with leading-edge technologies trends/developments
• May support and maintain virtualized services, components and environments by using Service Virtualization tools to enable functional and non-functional testing
• May develop, debug, execute and maintain performance testing scripts using various performance testing tools

Job Description

• Provide insight, information and recommendations on industry trends and significant issues

BREADTH & DEPTH
• Provides day-to-day guidance, to project management team and testing coordination
• Manages defect management / resolution process and acts as the primary contact on projects for testing
• Identifies testing risks and coordinates test environment
• Writes scripts and scenarios per QA methodology
• May be involved in or lead the development and delivery of test strategies for less complex projects
• Builds relationships and works collaboratively to identify solutions and resolve problems
• Generally reports to a Manager or Senior Manager

Requirements

  • Develop or contribute to test plans, test strategies, test data and test environment setups by evaluating test and product strategies to aid in the prioritization of test cases
  • Identify, assess and propose recommendations to identified testing risks using a systematic approach
  • Work in partnership with various project teams to determine the use of appropriate tools and the approach to facilitate execution of test cases for all test phases , including whether or not to automate test cases and in what order
  • Review documentation to make sure the testing requirements are fulfilled and understood and provide recommendations and/or deliver corresponding strategic testing solutions to support cost effectiveness initiatives
  • Ensure the management of key documentation to ensure ongoing quality and consistency of execution and contribute to the quality and testability of the Detailed Business Requirements
  • Advise Test Manager/Project Manager regarding overall quality of project and identify outstanding issues through established project management protocols
  • Apply and follow established testing best practices and SDLC methodology
  • Participate and contribute to the Project Charter and Project Plans, System Requirements Specification (SRS) and System Design Specification
  • (SDS) walkthroughs with project team
  • Work with the project and portfolio management to align projects by looking for overlap in testing resource requirements across projects
  • Working with the Test Manager, provide direction and strategy to the team for the product or LOB to improve testing practices and become more efficient
  • Review test results walkthrough presentation prior to delivery to ensure exit criteria requirements have been met to the satisfaction of the project
  • Participate in defect triage activities through the execution of targeted tests, review of Performance testing behavior, and collaborative work sessions with the various teams involved to drive at root cause.
  • Work with other Performance Engineering tools, mainly dynaTrace, to provide the technical teams with as much information as possible on the nature of Performance bottlenecks.
  • Provide technical guidance and project leadership to project team members
  • Contribute in the development of the Software Deployment Plan, Implementation Strategy, Implementation Plan and Post Installation and Verification Plans
  • Provide Post Implementation Support during Warranty Support Period
  • Contribute to the creation of the Support Transition Documentation
  • Assist in the development/maintenance of testing processes for prevention of issues and post implementation reviews and participate in problem determination and timely resolution of incidents
  • Utilize appropriate tools to record, analyze and classify defects
  • Continuously enhance knowledge/expertise in testing and keep current with industry trends, new technologies and best practices in the external
  • market that can contribute to delivering effective client solutions
  • Ensure testing is conducted in accordance with established information security and information privacy policies and guidelines
  • Ensure testing is conducted in a manner that does not impact the production environment (e.g., scheduling of file transmissions)
  • Advanced knowledge, analytical skills and understanding of technical environment, test strategies, creation of test plans, applications supported, debugging techniques , web application design and testing tools
  • Expert understanding of business workflows and applications involved; expert on end-to-end scenarios and prioritization, testing standards, software development process, verification methods, defect management, version control systems and documentation repository practices and procedures
  • Advanced knowledge of software development and project management life cycle, development methodologies, testing industry best practices and/or business trends
  • High-level/working knowledge of dynaTrace in order to identify general “hotspots” for Performance defects.
