Job Description

The Data Security team is looking for a for a self-motivated Data Protection & Classification Lead to oversee the Data Protection and Classification program. The ideal candidate should be an enthusiastic, team player who is delivery-oriented, takes responsibility for the team’s success, and strives to continually learn and improve. Here are the essential job functions of this position:
• Define / develop / implement / manage standards, policies, procedures related to data protection and classification
• Provide consultation and advice to partners on Data Protection related technology controls/ programs / policies / standards
• Develop on-going technology risk reporting, monitor key trends, and define metrics to regularly measure control effectiveness
• Assess / identify key issues and escalate to appropriate levels and relevant stakeholders where required
• Contribute to the review of internal processes and activities and assist in identifying potential opportunities for improvement
• Influence behavior to reduce rick and foster a strong technology risk management culture throughout the enterprise
• Oversee remediation of Data Protection and Classification related control gaps
• May participate on complex, comprehensive, or large projects and initiatives

  • University Degree.
  • Information Security Certification / Accreditation an asset.
  • 7+ years of relevant experience.
  • Expert knowledge of IT security and risk disciplines and practices.
  • Advanced knowledge of of organization, technology controls, security and risk issues.
  • Demonstrated ability to participate in complex, comprehensive or large projects and initiatives.
  • Ability to serve as a lead expert resource in technology controls and information security for project teams, the business, organization and outside vendors.
  • Must be eligible for employment under regulatory standards applicable to the position.


Preferred Qualifications – Here are the preferred qualifications for this role:

• Advanced knowledge of Data Protection and Classification controls, domains, disciplines, and practices
• Expert knowledge of IT security and risk disciplines and practices
• Advanced knowledge of organization, technology controls / security/ risk issues
• Ability to serve as a lead expert resource in technology controls and information security for project teams, the business, organization, and outside vendors
• Strong communicator with excellent oral, written, and presentation skills and ability to adjust to target audience
